Possible "Activity Monitor" conflict???

Post by edge569 » Sat Jan 13, 2018 5:28 am

I had paused all downloads on Usenetic and was surfing Safari, and suddenly "something" on my computer was sucking up my bandwidth so I opened Activity Monitor to find out what it was. It no more than showed Usenetic as the problem, when Usenetic crashed. After reopening Usenetic, my entire queue was gone. After quitting Usenetic a couple days ago I also lost the entire queue. ( I tried to drag and drop the log file but it said it was an invalid ext. so I copied and pasted.

1) If you are using the watchdog feature then new downloads are automatically start downloaded. If you don't want that then quit Usenetic or set auto-connect on disabled (right top in the toolbar).

2) Make sure you are using the latest Usenetic version.

3) You can lower the max amount of memory that Usenetic is allowed to use in the preferences.

4) Virusscanners and other memory/system management tools might use a lot of extra recourses when you are downloading a lot of files at high speed. See: this topic and this topic

Let me know if any of the above is/was the case for your problem.

Thanks.

1) I've never used the watchdog feature

2) I am using the latest version v0.94.1

3) Memory usage was set to 4 (of 8). I lowered it to 3.5 (I do have a memory issue on this computer and use a memory monitor to free up ram)

4) I do have a virus scanner enabled (Symantec Endpoint Protection) but as I said All downloads were paused and unfortunately I don't suffer from high speed downloading. 3Mb/s on a good day.

Is it possible to have a regular save state like games have? So in the event of a crash, the queue isn't lost. I would rather have the queue showing a few files that were already downloaded when restarting than lose the entire queue. As I said, I've lost the queue when quitting before. Thats why I left it open in the background while surfing with Safari. Maybe even save it manually as a file that can be loaded later so that you could have a queue for movies and a separate one for music or a user 1 and user 2 queue?

Hi,

I've added the option to periodic save the queue, to the todo list.

Thank you for your answer.
