High memory usage on MacOS 10.14.5

We are aware and working on a fix to solve the high memory usage on MacOS 10.14.5.
It seems that Apple has changed the way MacOS 10.14.5 is handling the virtual memory which is causing the high memory usage.

We'll try to solve this within the next few days.

Thank you.

It seems I have v.1.3.1 and the problem still occurs on my Mojave 10.14.5 MacPro 5,1 - RAM 18 GB, the very fast pice Msata ssd download drive is 120 GB empty, just for use by Usenetic downloads, but the Activity monitor reports 20 GB RAM in use by Usenetic. It slows the system down to a very irritating crawl, no reaction even from mouse clicks, only a force quit will resolve it.

The Usenetic prefs advise to set the max. RAM usage to 50%, which I did. Is was at 9 GB.

I have set it now to 4GB, and I am going to test it.

Problem is not solved, sorry.

Thanks.

Jack, are the files in the fileset extremely large, like about a GB each?

Hi, thanks for reacting so quickly.

I am not sure what you are referring to as a 'fileset'.
I did however put the Memory setting on 4 GB and it still went up to very high: see screenshot.

The fileset (if it is what I am thinking it is) didn't even begin downloading, the 1st Par file had started, but Usenetic grinds everything to a halt
No large files. I just only use the search function now and export the NZB files from there, then open those in ANY old NZB downloader, Unison, NZBin, and they work fine.

They are also using the same download drive without any problems, no hogging all the RAM.

Just to be clear, I used to let 3 or 4 download apps use the same drive, but I tried eliminating things. All pointing to this.

I hope this helps you in determining the problem. My next step would be to start looking for preference files and deleting those to see if the problem goes away.

Thanks.

Thanks for the detailed info.
I suspect analysing the par files is the problem here, but I am not sure.

I've one other customer with the same issues on one of his iMac. Usenetic on his other Mac is running fine.
It all started with after installing Mojave.

Weird.

Anyway, I'll get back to you asap.

Hi,

New development :

i deleted Usenetic and all the files it created, including the preference file.
I downloaded a new copy, provided it with all new server info, set the folders, and started a search and tried to download the same files as before.

It seems to have solved the problem for now.

Screenshot was taken when running for almost an hour, with no RAM issues.

Thanks.

Hi,

I am sorry to report, that when I tried to use your App at full strength, the problem reappeared.

Screenshot included.

I just purchased another year for the search feature. I hop you can get it to behave in the future.

Thanks,

Jack

Unfortunately I can't reproduce this issue, but I'll try to fix this in the next week.
